Bail refers to funds deposited by a defendant or third person designed to ensure that the accused will make all future court appearances. It can be in cash or in the form of a bond secured by a bail bondsman. The amount of the bail is at the judge’s discretion. A judge may deny bail altogether or set it at an astronomical level if the defendant is charged with a violent crime or appears likely to be a flight risk. To post a bail bond, the defendant must usually pay 10% of the bail amount to the bail bond agency.

If you miss your court date, the entire amount of your bail bond will be forfeited. You will be considered a fugitive, and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. At Matrix Bail Bonds, we understand there are honest reasons why you may miss your court date, and we work with our clients to reinstate their bonds so they can continue fighting their cases from outside of jail.

The time it takes for someone to be released from jail after their bail has been posted will vary, depending on various factors. What jail they are in, how busy the jail is, and what time of day they were arrested will all play a role in determining how long it will take for a defendant to be released after their bail has been paid. Most jail's release time is between two and six hours, and some jails may take up to twelve hours to release someone.

Once the court has come to a conclusion and the defendant is either found innocent or guilty, the bond will be exonerated. After we receive a copy of the bond exoneration form and the premium agreed upon has been paid in full, the lien on the property will be removed, and all collateral will be returned.

The premium paid is a percentage of the bail set by the court and is the fee for our services to help release the defendant from custody. The paid premium will not be refunded, and if there is any unpaid premium after the case has been settled, the remaining balance will still be billed.

We offer discounted rates for union members, active or former military, law enforcement, and senior citizens. We also offer discounted rates for clients who've fully paid the premium, fully collateralized the bond, and have private defense attorneys.
